    he Elgin Math and Science Academy Charter School (EMSA, www.elginmathandscience.org) opened in August of 2018 to all students residing in the U-46 attendance area.

    EMSA is seeking a compelling, committed, and innovative Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) that will help to establish a positive learning environment that promotes Wow & Wonder in the classroom while modeling and encouraging the habits of scholarship for students self-discipline. An EMSA SLP will deliver speech/language services as mandated on a student's Individualized Education Plan (IEP) in accordance with the Illinois State Board of Education requirements.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

    • Responsible for screening, assessing, and identifying students with communication disorders that adversely affect their educational progress.
    • Develops and provides direct and indirect services within the student's educational setting according to the goals and objectives of the student's Individualized Education Plan (IEP).
    • Collaborates with other classroom teachers and related service providers in the development and implementation of best practices, thus ensuring that student's needs are met in all school settings.
    • Participates as a team member with responsibility for the identification, eligibility, and placement of speech and language students.
    • Maintains current files and data for program planning and decision making for students, including procedural documentation.
    • Maintains confidential records of the speech-language program and prepares reports as required.
    • Develops appropriate IEP goals based on students' strengths and needs.
    • Selects and implements evidence-based practices which support the goals and objectives of the speech and language program.
    • Maintains orderly classroom behavior on an individual or group basis.

    Qualifications:

    1. High school diploma or equivalent.
    2. Masters degree from an accredited college/university.
    3. Current Illinois State Teaching Certificate on file in the Central Office.
    4. Current Illinois Speech Pathologist License on file in the Central Office.
    5. Health and Inoculation Certificate on file in the Central Office.
    6. Desire to continue career improvement.

    Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:

    1. Requires prolonged sitting or standing.
    2. Occasionally requires physical exertion to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials.
    3. Occasional travel in between school buildings
    4. Occasional stooping, bending, and reaching.
