    Job Summary: The Per Diem Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) provides comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic services for patients with communication, cognitive, and/or swallowing disorders on an as-needed basis. This role offers flexible scheduling to accommodate the organization's needs and the clinician's availability, providing high-quality, individualized care in various settings (e.g., patient homes, clinic, facility).

    Key Responsibilities:

    Assessment & Diagnosis: Conduct thorough evaluations using standardized and non-standardized assessments to diagnose a wide range of speech, language, cognitive-communication, voice, and swallowing disorders.

    Treatment Planning: Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based treatment plans based on patient needs, goals, and medical conditions.

    Therapeutic Intervention: Provide direct speech-language pathology services, including therapy for articulation, fluency, voice, language, cognition, and dysphagia (swallowing disorders).

    Documentation: Maintain accurate, timely, and complete patient records, including evaluations, daily treatment notes, progress reports, and discharge summaries, adhering to all regulatory and organizational standards.

    Patient/Family Education: Educate patients, families, and caregivers on communication strategies, swallowing precautions, and home exercise programs to facilitate progress and carryover.

    Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary team members (e.g., physicians, nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists, social workers) to ensure coordinated and holistic patient care.

    Compliance: Adhere to all federal, state, and local regulations, as well as professional ethics and organizational policies.

    Professional Development: Maintain current licensure and pursue ongoing continuing education to stay abreast of best practices in speech-language pathology.

    Flexibility: Be available to accept assignments as needed, which may include covering vacations, sick leave, or fluctuating patient volumes.

    Qualifications: Experience:

    At least one (1) year of current experience in an acute care setting.

    Critical thinking, service excellence and good interpersonal communication skills, ability to read/comprehend written instructions, strong organizational skills, ability to follow verbal instructions, and PC (computer) skills.

    A capacity to learn, synthesize, make critical judgments, work independently, place patients and families first, and collaborate with the team members who are recognized leaders within health care.

    Education:

    Master’s degree or equivalent, preferred.

    Licensure/Certifications:

    Current California Speech Language Pathologist License or board exam eligibile.

    CCC from ASHA, preferred.

    Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association (AHA), required.

    AB508 Workplace Violence Prevention (4 hour) due within 30 days.

    OR

    Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB 1 or MAB 2), Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) or other certification covering AB508 and SB1299.

    Education

    Preferred

    Masters or better in Speech-Language Pathology
