Responsibilities: • Ensure the patient area is ready for exams and procedures by prepping equipment like x-ray machines, anesthetics, and impression materials and cleaning and laying out dental instruments • Provide postoperative instructions to patients so they are informed about how to care for their teeth and gums after procedures to prevent infection • Assist dentists and dental hygienists during any procedures or examinations by handing off dental instruments and ensure each patient's mouth is comfortable, dry, and accessible to the dentist • Help with administrative duties such as welcoming patients, taking phone calls, making appointments for dental visits, ordering supplies, and handling billing • Sterilization Procedures: Perform proper sterilization techniques for dental instruments and equipment following established protocols and guidelines. • Instrument Processing: Clean, disinfect, and prepare dental instruments and equipment for sterilization. • Equipment Maintenance: Maintain and monitor sterilization equipment, ensuring proper functionality and performance. • Inventory Management: Manage inventory of sterilization supplies, including ordering, stocking, and organizing supplies as needed. • Compliance: Ensure compliance with infection control standards and regulations set forth by relevant governing bodies, such as OSHA and CDC. • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of sterilization processes and procedures, including instrument tracking and maintenance logs. • Team Collaboration: Collaborate with dental assistants, hygienists, and other dental staff to ensure efficient workflow and adherence to sterilization protocols. • Quality Assurance: Participate in quality assurance initiatives to ensure the highest standards of sterilization and infection control are maintained. • Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry best practices and advancements in sterilization techniques and infection control protocols. Qualifications: • Must have an associate degree in an accredited dental assistant program • Possess the ability to provide patients with excellent care and service • Excellent multitasking, interpersonal, and communication skills • Basic data entry and computer skills • High school diploma or equivalent required. • No dental experience required • Certification or training in dental sterilization techniques is preferred. • Knowledge of infection control protocols and regulations. • Attention to detail and ability to follow precise procedures. • Strong organizational and time management skills. • Effective communication and interpersonal skills. • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team. • Physical ability to lift and move heavy equipment and supplies. • This position plays a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of dental patients by maintaining a clean and sterile environment. Compensation: $18 - $20 hourly
