    Job Description

    We’re currently looking for an DATABASE ENGINEER to support a Fortune 200 enterprise IT environment. The Database Engineer is responsible for the architecture, implementation and support of all database servers and databases within the environment. Provide a seamless flow of information throughout the company, considering both backend data structure and frontend accessibility for end-users.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    • Keep the database up and running smoothly 24/7 to provide a seamless flow of information throughout the company
    • Provide daily monitoring and analysis of databases and database servers to ensure continuance of operations
    • Execute database performance analysis and tuning to ensure optimal system performance. Major areas of support in this area will include sizing, throughput, scalability and dependability
    • Work with software developers to design and implement new database schemas, stored procedures, etc.
    • Review all changes to existing production databases to ensure that such changes do not negatively impact database performance or reliability
    • Ensure security of databases
    • Promote database changes through software development lifecycle process
    • Provide end-to-end technical support and problem resolution
    • Schedule and perform regular server maintenance
    • Available to assist users to determine requirements and design for systems
    • Estimate time and materials needed to create new or modify existing databases
    • Migrate data from existing databases to new databases or between database environments
    • Conducts all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company

    EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field from a four-year college or university
    • Five years’ experience as a Production SQL Server DBA
    • Experience in Performance Tuning and Optimization, using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools
    • Advanced T-SQL experience
    • Proficient with Windows PowerShell or similar scripting language
    • Advanced knowledge of database structure and theory
    • Advanced knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Server
    • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
    • Superb communication and documentation skills
    • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral form or via business applications
    • Proficiency with MS Office and email
