  • Responsibilities

    The purpose of this position is to provide support for authoring Environmental Report(s) as part of a Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) Combined License Application (COLA) and other duties as assigned.

    Basic Job Requirements

    • Experience performing environmental impact analyses and preparing environmental documents for submission to regulators

    • National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) and Environmental Assessment (EA) experience

    • Familiarity with US environmental laws and regulations

    • Excellent writing skills for complex environmental report preparation

    • Senior-level experience and scientific/technical educational background

    • Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in applicable environmental field of study and ten (10) years of work-related experience

    • Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders

    Preferred technical expertise includes:

    · Geology, hydrology, and/or hydrogeology

    · Air resources, meteorology

    · Cultural and historical resources

    · Demographics, socioeconomics, and environmental justice

    · Ecological resources; ecological risk assessment/impacts

    · Human health risk assessment

    · Radiological dose assessment, health impacts and controls

    · Waste management related to nuclear power plants

    · Nuclear plant operational impacts to the environment

    · Nuclear plant construction impacts to the environment

    Other Job Requirements

    • Continue education and knowledge of industry-wide HSE-related information and technologies as well as new environmental regulations and trends through continuing education, conferences, and/or periodicals, and continues to develop in-depth specialization

    • Ability to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelines

    • Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner

    • Preferred Qualifications

    • NRC Licensing experience and/or NRC Environmental Report (ER) experience

    • Department of Energy (DOE) environmental experience

    • Ability to work independent and on teams to successfully complete assignments on schedule including research, analysis, data gathering, evaluation and presentation, and complex writing

    • Ability to effectively work remotely to deliver on individual assignments while staying actively engaged with distributed team members

    • Ability to effectively manage and deliver on multiple concurrent tasks, such as researching and preparing multiple ER sections at differing stages of development as information becomes available

    • Attention to detail to ensure data and information traceability within the ER

    • Demonstrate high level of interpretive and critical thinking and mature judgment

    • Advanced computer and software skills to include the use of word processing and email as well as the advanced use of spreadsheets, electronic presentations, databases, as well as remote connectivity software

    • Effective presentation skills including public speaking

    • Ability to support occasional travel if needed

    • A valid driver’s license
