Job Title: Database Administrator (DBA)

Location: On-site and remote work (50% onsite required)

Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled Database Administrator (DBA) Contractor to join our team for staff augmentation purposes. The successful candidate will be responsible for architecting and managing our Azure-based CosmosDB and PostgreSQL database environments. The ideal candidate will have experience in Azure, CosmosDB, and PostgreSQL, and will be able to work with both on-premise and cloud-based databases. The candidate should also have excellent problem-solving skills, be a team player, and have the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

Architect and manage Azure-based CosmosDB and PostgreSQL database environments

Define, plan, implement, and support BNSF's cloud-based CosmosDB and PostgreSQL databases for the enterprise

Monitor and maintain database performance, security, and availability

Provide support for database-related issues and incidents

Optimize database performance and scalability

Implement and maintain database backup and recovery solutions

Work with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality database solutions

Required Skills:

Experience with Azure, CosmosDB, and PostgreSQL

Knowledge of database architecture, design, and best practices

Ability to perform database maintenance tasks, such as backup and recovery, database tuning, and performance monitoring

Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Requirements:

50% onsite work required

Experience with cloud-based databases

Experience with database administration of CosmosDB and PostgreSQL

Ability to manage multiple databases and projects simultaneously
