Public Works Project Engineer in Dallas, Texas
Serve as an extension of staff for cities, counties, or other public-sector entities to manage and deliver capital improvement projects
Manage the planning and design phase of a variety of municipal transportation projects, including roadway widening, roadway rehabilitation, intersection improvements, traffic signal installation, and/or bridge improvements (expansion, major repairs and modifications). Transportation projects may also include franchise utility coordination, sidewalk improvements, minor drainage improvements, water line (12-inch or less) replacement, and/or sewer line (18-inch or less) replacement.
Monitor and control the project scope, schedule, and budget to ensure projects are delivered on time and with the allowable budget
Coordinate and communicate effectively with internal project stakeholders to ensure completed projects are meeting the expectations and needs of the individuals who will operate and maintain the improvements
Conduct technical reviews of planning and design submittals to ensure deliverables meet the applicable design standards
Conduct a constructability review of all design submittals to ensure projects have adequate right-of-way and are phase to allow for efficient construction
Provide oversight and provide direction to junior-level staff
Prepare projects for public bidding, evaluate bids/proposals, and make recommendations for award
Provide construction administration through final completion
Qualifications
7+ years of progressive work experience in the planning, design, and construction of civil infrastructure projects or programs
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
Registration as a Professional Engineer in Texas
Strong technical, production design, writing, and teamwork skills, as well as project/program and team management experience
Strong technical writing and management skills
Self-motivated, able to work independently and multi-task, and lead junior staff
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience managing and coordinating with the Texas Department of Transportation
Previous municipal experience
