Principal Civil Engineer Job Description
Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Civil Engineer to lead and innovate within our civil engineering projects. This role is designed for a U.S. Citizen who excels in both technical and leadership aspects of civil engineering, with a deep understanding of federal, state, and local codes, including Department of Energy Orders. The candidate will showcase a strong proficiency in civil engineering disciplines, including but not limited to site layout, paving, grading, drainage, and water management systems, aligning with our commitment to excellence in engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead planning, organization, and coordination of civil engineering and multi-disciplined team/design projects through all phases.
Design and oversee water distribution systems, sewage collection, treatment processes, and develop solutions for grading, drainage, and pavement.
Expertise in conducting reviews of construction documents, ensuring all designs comply with the required standards and codes.
Proficiency in generating accurate design/evaluation calculations and specifications.
Utilize and mentor in computer-aided drafting (CAD) applications including Autodesk Civil 3D and Storm and Sanitary Analysis for engineering designs.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering required; Master’s degree preferred.
Professional Engineer (PE) License is highly preferred.
Minimum of 15 years’ experience in a wide range of civil engineering disciplines as outlined in the self-assessment form.
Demonstrated experience with EPC projects across nuclear facilities, commercial, pharmaceutical/biotech, industrial, manufacturing, and government sectors.
Skills and Qualifications:
Advanced knowledge and hands-on experience with civil engineering software tools as mentioned in the self-assessment form.
Demonstrated ability in leading roles such as Discipline Lead Engineer, Area Lead Engineer, Design Engineer, or Engineering Manager/Project Engineer.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and project management skills.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
