    The person selected to fill this position shall have expertise in building science, energy-efficient technologies, energy savings methodology analysis energy modeling, and energy codes. Knowledge of HVAC systems, water heating, grid harmonization technologies, demand response, and distributed generation. Knowledge of ENERGY STAR product specifications, ASTM test procedures, and emerging technologies studies is a plus. The person will be responsible for completing performance audits for existing multifamily buildings, including field assessments, utility bill analysis, energy modeling, cost estimating, financial analysis, and report preparation. The Energy Engineer also will act as a technical consultant for clients, as well as an interface to program agencies.

    Daily responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    · Obtain utility usage data from clients and analyze to isolate high usage components/units;

    · Coordinate or complete estimation of savings and implementation cost for potential upgrade measures.

    · Compose audit reports summarizing findings, financial analysis, and recommendation.

    Calculate energy savings and clearly document assumptions and methodology;

    Analyze the cost effectiveness of energy efficiency measures using utility-approved cost effectiveness calculators and tools;

    Write reports on technical topics, such as measure reports for technical resource manuals (TRMs), workpapers, Title 24 CASE reports, and market characterization studies;

    Coordinate or complete energy modeling using appropriate program-approved software and perform energy modeling using EnergyPlus, eQuest, and similar software and apply statistical methods to results;

    Support development of energy efficiency program forecasts for proposals and business development efforts;

    Coordination with energy efficiency project managers, utility clients, and oversight of subcontractors;

    Manage engineering support staff on energy savings and new measure development projects.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in mechanical engineering

    Licensed mechanical engineer (P.E.)

    At least 5 years of engineering or work experience in related area

    Knowledge of Title 20, Title 24, ASHRAE 90.1, IECC, and other energy codes

    Knowledge of ENERGY STAR product specifications and ASTM test procedures

    Demonstrated ability to write reports, technical papers, and provide technical presentations to knowledgeable audiences

    Demonstrated experience in energy modeling, knowledge of EnergyPlus and or eQuest, and experience with large-scale simulations, and data analysis

    Highly detail oriented, strong analytical and verbal communication skills, and the ability to handle multiple priorities

    Project management experience including budget development and management

    Excellent verbal and written communication skills

    Enthusiasm for work within a diverse, collaborative team

    Ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders

    Strong attention to detail and high degree of speed and accuracy

    Understand fundamentals of project management

    Perform a variety of complex, unsupervised tasks with some degree of creativity and latitude

    Competencies: Works independently, takes initiative, exemplary written and verbal communication skills, strong analytical capabilities with attention to detail, excels at collaboration with multiple teams, admirable time management skills and ability to manage multiple projects.

    Preferred:

    Knowledge of ASHREA standards, IESNA, NEC, AWS, etc.

    One of the following certifications: CEM, CEP, CEA, CCWEP, LEED, etc
