    Location: Hamtramck, MI
    Job type: Fulltime, School Year Contract OpportunityÂ
    Pay: $42/Hour

    We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our high school faculty in Hamtramck, MI. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing specialized instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs. As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a crucial role in creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment that enables all students to reach their full potential.

    Responsibilities:
    Individualized Instruction:

    • Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with special needs.
    • Modify curriculum materials and teaching techniques to meet the diverse learning styles and abilities of students.

    Collaboration:

    • Work closely with general education teachers, support staff, and parents to foster a collaborative and inclusive educational environment.
    • Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of strategies to support students' academic and social-emotional growth.

    Assessment and Progress Monitoring:

    • Conduct ongoing assessments to identify students' strengths and areas of improvement.
    • Monitor and track students' progress, adjusting instructional strategies as needed to ensure continuous growth.

    Behavioral Support:

    • Implement behavior management strategies to create a positive and supportive classroom environment.
    • Collaborate with school counselors, psychologists, and other support staff to address behavioral challenges and implement intervention plans.

    Professional Development:

    • Stay current with best practices in special education and attend relevant workshops or training sessions.
    • Engage in professional development activities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.

    Communication:

    • Maintain open and regular communication with parents/guardians regarding students' progress and individualized plans.
    • Provide timely and detailed feedback to students to encourage their academic and social development.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
    • Michigan Teaching Certificate with Special Education endorsement.
    • Experience working with high school students with diverse learning needs.
    • Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to differentiate instruction and employ various teaching strategies to meet individual student needs.
