  • Responsibilities

    Responsibilities:

    • Coordinate and manage new patient referral
    • Must be Bilingual
    • Ensure timely and accurate processing of referral requests
    • Communicate with patients, providers, and insurance companies to gather necessary information for referrals
    • Verify insurance coverage and obtain authorizations for upcoming appointments
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date referral records in electronic medical records system
    • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to facilitate seamless patient care

    -Meet productivity authorization/verification requests 2 weeks prior to the scheduled appointment

    -Modifies CPT/ICD-10 Codes and extends authorizations as needed

    • Understand the CPT/ICD codes being submitted

    -Maintain an understanding of payer policies for procedures

    -Obtain benefits prior to patient visits

    -Contact patient and or referring provider when unable to verify insurance benefits

    • Follow HIPAA guidelines to protect patient privacy and confidentiality

    Requirements:

    • Previous experience working in a medical setting preferred-Prior experience as a Referral Coordinator utilizing EMR

    • Familiarity with medical terminology, coding (ICD-9, ICD-10), and managed care

    • Proficient in using electronic medical records systems for managing referrals and medical records

    • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment

    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

    • Ability to work collaboratively with a team of healthcare professionals

    • Ability to work well under pressure

    • Exceptional attention to detail

    • Good organizational skills

    • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality
