    Background

The Support Coordinator is a vital function at Sports Reference.  In this role, you will act as a liaison between our Customer Service team and Engineering.  You will facilitate triaging issues and requests from our users to help organize and ensure issues and requests are resolved in a timely manner.

This role will report into engineering.  While having programming experience is a definite plus, it is not required.  In addition to assisting with issue triage, this role will also help in other project management activities within engineering, equivalent to a Scrum Master in Scrum.

Goals and Tasks for Your First Year (In rough order of importance)

    Must-Reach Goals and Tasks

    • Manage issues and requests from users through the Customer Service team on a daily basis by reviewing all issues, determining if they are duplicates, and working with the larger engineering team and product team to triage and determine priority of issues.
    • Meet weekly with the Customer Service, Product, and Engineering teams to triage issues that are less critical, review status of in-flight issues and requests, and report out on completed issues and requests.
    • Manage the issue and request queue.  Keep the queue up to date and in priority order.  Ensure assignment within the tooling is correct, and that status is maintained appropriately.
    • Provide status to senior management on the number of issues and requests, the rate of completion, the status of key initiatives, and make recommendations to complete the work as efficiently as possible.
    • Support Team Leads by utilizing collaborative techniques and communication strategies for efficient resolution of questions and disagreement.

    Nice-to-Reach Goals and Tasks

    • Facilitate demos of completed issues and requests.
    • Help coordinate small to medium sized projects within Engineering.
    • Help understand resourcing constraints for upcoming projects and suggest potential candidates based on skills within the Engineering team.

    Expectations

    • Complete projects related to company objectives as time and skills allow.
    • Continue your ongoing professional development, which we will support.

    Qualifications and Skills

A qualified candidate will satisfy the following:

    • Evidence that you are capable of meeting many of the goals listed above.
    • Experience managing issues, small features, and defects for an engineering team.
    • This position will have no direct reports at this time.
    • Have a history of getting things done (and done well).
    • If you don't think your application will have evidence that you can meet all of the "nice-to-reach goals and tasks" above but still are interested in the job and otherwise qualify, please apply. Nobody checks every box—we're looking for candidates that are particularly strong in a few areas, and have some interest and capabilities in others.
