    POSITION DESCRIPTION

    Spotlight Events, Inc. is a dynamic and progressive EMPLOYEE-OWNED (ESOP) company based in Eagle, Idaho.  We are a touring National Dance Competition and producers of competitive dance events throughout the United States. With a focus on excellence in everything we do, our culture is inclusive and inspiring.

    We are seeking an energetic candidate with superior organizational skills, attention to detail and follow-through to work in our Accounting Department.  Candidates must possess an established background in accounting with extensive knowledge of accounting procedures and best practices; QuickBooks, Excel & MS Office; the ability to oversee all aspects of the accounting department; and possess exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. 

    Outstanding internal and external customer service skills, the ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality in work, and capacity to work independently and as part of a team on deadline-critical projects are essential. This Position will report directly to the department manager.  This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic individual possessing these skills to be a part of a talented, committed, and innovative team with growth and promotion potential.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • In conjunction with the department manager, oversee daily business operations including data research, reporting, analysis, banking, data entry, developing procedures and internal controls to ensure a high level of accuracy, and general fiscal-oriented duties.
    • Accounting functions including accounts receivable, accounts payable, account reconciliations, sales tax reporting and payments, budget preparation and forecasting activities.
    • Maintain historical financial records and archive financial documents in adherence to internal document retention policies.
    • Ensures that financial reports comply with GAAP.
    • Identifies and recommends updates to accounting processes and procedures.
    • Assist with travel-related tasks and responsibilities including booking accommodations, preparing stipend reports, organizing on-site catering orders, relaying travel details to event staff with clarity and accuracy and ensuring all travel is within budget.
    • Support the overall operations of interdepartmental and organization-wide responsibilities and initiatives through effort, teamwork, and a results-oriented approach to task management.
    • This position may require minimal travel.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Solid understanding of accounting principles
    • Ability to develop accounting and operational processes and procedures to support Company's strategic direction and goals
    • Exceptional organizational, critical thinking, and analytical skills
    • In-depth knowledge of QuickBooks accounting software
    • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Windows OS & MS Office Suite software with expertise in Excel
    • Ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously and possess exceptional time management skills
    • Collaborative approach to meeting goals
    • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
    • Cost and budget control knowledge and experience
    • Internal and external customer service skills
    • Problem solving and decision making while maintaining individual accountability
    • Independent work ethic and ability to handle change
    • Experience working with independent contractors and supporting the needs of a remote workforce
