The Vice President of Finance is a strategic business partner to owners and participates in the creation, implementation and execution of key value creation strategies and initiatives. As a key member of the executive team, this person will plan, develop, organize, implement, direct and evaluate the organization's fiscal function and performance using the generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). This position ensures legal and regulatory compliance for all accounting, financial and Human Resource reporting functions. The VP of Finance also oversees cost and general accounting, accounts receivable/collection and payroll and risk management.
This role manages, develops, and directs staff in Finance. The role is responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of direct reports and for carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. This includes, but is not limited to, performance evaluations, team building, corrective actions, hiring, and training the team.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDED BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Finance and Accounting
- Guides financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures.
- Protects assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls.
- Monitors and confirms financial condition by conducting internal reviews and providing information to stakeholders.
- Maximizes return, and limits risk; evaluating investments and ROI
- Prepares budgets by establishing schedules; collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data; recommending plans.
- Achieves budget objectives by scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
- Oversee monthly and quarterly assessments and forecasts of organization's financial performance against budget, financial and operational goals. Oversee short and long-term financial and managerial reporting
- Provides status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data.
- Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
- Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; filing financial reports; advising management on needed actions.
- Completes operational requirements by scheduling and assigning finance department employees; following up on work results.
- Develop and building financial staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.
- Maintains financial staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending online educational workshops and reviewing professional publications.
- Protects operations by keeping financial information and plans confidential.
- Initiate research and lead projects with the internal IT department to streamline current operational procedures as well as maintain and improve the accounting system and software.
- Identify areas of cost savings and implement clear process of cost containment and vendor negotiations
- Work with department managers to reduce costs and fight for the best rates
- Strategically work with senior management on growth opportunities including M&A assessment, due diligence and integration
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- CPA or Master’s degree in a business, financial or related field or equivalent work experience.
- Preferred background in wholesale fashion and/or footwear with proven success in growing a business.
- 10 or more years of experience in managing an accounting function in a medium or large-size company.
- 5 to 7 years of progressively increasing responsibility in Financial Management
- Excellent computer skills and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, and Access)
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
- Experienced background in organizational effectiveness and operations management including implementing and designing best practices.
- Demonstrated leadership and vision in managing staff groups and major projects or initiatives.
- Budget development and oversight experience
- A demonstrated commitment to high professional ethical standards and a diverse workplace
- Excels at operating in a fast paced, deadline driven environment
- Excellent people manager, open to direction and collaborative work style with a strong commitment to get the job done in a timely, accurate manner.
