    Instrumentation & Controls Systems Engineer
    Remote | Houston, TX | $95k - $115k

    Konik is partnering with an engineering client looking for a controls engineer who thrives on solving real-world automation challenges. We're looking for an Instrumentation and Controls Systems Engineer to join their growing team! You'll play a hands-on role in designing, programming, and supporting industrial automation systems across Texas, Louisiana, New Mexico, and other Southern states.

    This position is ideal for experienced automation professionals who enjoy working both in the field and with cross-functional project teams, bringing control systems to life across a wide range of industrial environments.

    Instrumentation & Controls Systems Engineer Responsibilities:

    • Program and commission Allen-Bradley and GE PLC/HMI systems for industrial applications
    • Collaborate with engineering and construction teams to ensure automation designs meet project specifications
    • Troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, and instrumentation systems in the field
    • Assist with control panel testing and installation
    • Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, and customer teams onsite
    • Travel across Texas, Louisiana, New Mexico, and nearby states (up to 50%)
    • Train internal staff and clients on control system operations

    Instrumentation & Controls Systems Engineer Qualifications:

    • 2- or 4-year degrees in electrical engineering, automation, computer science, or a related field
    • 2–5 years of hands-on experience in PLC programming and industrial automation
    • Strong knowledge of Allen Bradley and/or GE platforms (experience with Siemens a plus)
    • Familiarity with analog and digital I/O, process control loops, and field instrumentation
    • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills in both programming and hardware
    • Comfortable reading blueprints, P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation
    • Ability to lead and coordinate instrumentation and electrical field personnel
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); familiarity with project scheduling tools
    • A team player who can also work independently in the field
