    The SR. CONTROLS ENGINEER supports, troubleshoots, and continuously improves instrumentation and control systems in support of plant production, quality, GMP, and safety goals. Designs and implements change to the instrumentation and control systems in the plant in support of business approved projects and permits.

    CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • PRODUCTION - Ensure the instrumentation, control systems, and documentation are maintained in a state capable of supporting the quality and production goals of the plant to meet business needs. Manage systems, service contracts, or software licenses as directed to maintain the overall instrumentation and control systems. Be knowledgeable and proficient in all of the plant control systems.

    • MAINTENANCE - Assist in defining and developing the necessary instrument and troubleshooting skills within the maintenance department. Assist the reliability efforts to improve overall reliability and effectiveness as it pertains to instrumentation and control systems.

    • REGULATORY, SAFETY, HEALTH - Comply with Safety and Health programs. Maintain or implement changes to the plant instrumentation and control systems and documentation to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and protection of the workforce and equipment.

    • EFFICIENT USE OF RESOURCES - Train maintenance, contractors, operations, and engineers where appropriate to minimize downtime attributable to troubleshooting and repair of instrumentation and control systems.

    • TECHNOLOGY - Evaluate opportunities for improving plant automation and control systems and present them to management for review. Participate in control systems life planning to ensure that instrumentation and control systems are supportable and fit for use as they approach obsolescence.

    • EFFICIENT USE OF CAPITAL - Design and implement assigned changes to instrumentation and control systems, and support plant projects as required by business needs within approved cost, schedule, safety, and scope criteria.

    • EXPERTISE - Maintain and improve skills required to ensure safe and efficient operation of instrumentation and control equipment. Sustain knowledge of new technologies or applications that may be beneficial to the business. Share knowledge and help within the group, with other plants, and any other customers within the organization. Assist in establishing and maintaining plant standards for instrumentation and control systems. Propose changes or additions to plant instrumentation and control systems.

    • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written to work effectively with peers, plant operating staff, and other engineering resources.

    • Demonstrated ability to organize, schedule, and carry out multiple tasks with minimum supervision.

    • Participation in professional organizations such as ISA.

    QUALIFIED CANDIDATES WILL HAVE:

    • College degree in related field with experience in process controls or equivalent work experience in automation & Controls is required.

    • Detailed knowledge and significant experience of the plant process control systems in more than one of the following is a plus: Allen Bradley PLCs (5, 500 and Control Logix), Emerson Delta V, Aspen IP.21, HMI Displays (AB Factory Talk View & GE Proficy iFix).

    • Demonstrated knowledge of measurement instrumentation and control valve theory of operation, application, selection, specification, and installation.

    • Demonstrated knowledge of analog control theory, configuration, and tuning.

    • Demonstrated knowledge of network infrastructure such as DH+, Ethernet/IP, Modbus or Serial Communication Networks. Cisco Certified Network Profession (CCNP) a plus.

    • Familiarity with cybersecurity concepts and principles.

    • Demonstrated knowledge of electrical control systems such as electrical drawings and motor starter controls.

    • Project Management experience and a track record of successful projects.
