    Senior Development Accountant - Multifamily Real Estate

    Washington, DC

    $90,000 - $110,000 + Bonus

    We are currently recruiting on a Senior Development/Construction Accountant for a growing Real Estate Developer based here in Washington, DC. This position will be supporting the accounting and reporting for the Construction & Development division of the company, handle the accounting duties for an assigned portfolio of development/pre-development projects, including capitalization reporting, tracking receivables based on construction performed, and report on budget to actual variances.

     

    Job Responsibilities/Duties:

    • Review books monthly for closing by reviewing the Job Cost and General Ledgers and reviewing the Financial Statements
    • Responsible for all month end close procedures related major capex jobs, including reconciliation to the general ledger
    • Review job cost (budget and commitment) balances and follow up with managers / General contractors to ensure pay applications and invoices are received for month end closing
    • Complete three-year cashflows three to four times per year for consolidation into the company wide cashflow
    • Work closely with construction management and project accounting teams to obtain, compile and review monthly accrual entries as well as monthly and quarterly accounting reports
    • Ensure Project Teams are complying with proper Contract Management processes and approvals for Commitments, COIs and Budget Changes
    • Prepare, update and distribute Predevelopment reports to SVP of Development and Construction
    • Prepare and present project reports and cashflows at a monthly, quarterly or bi-annual budget meeting
    • Prepare development Job cost entry and reconciliation
    • Review quarterly capital call and provide changes to Corporate Accounting team
    • Complete annual tax filings including Personal Property Returns and BPOLs
    • Communicate with external construction management teams.

     

    Education & Experience Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance/Business from accredited 4-year college strongly preferred
    • 5+ years of Real Estate Development or Construction accounting strongly preferred
    • Experience in Sage Timberline, Sage 300 or Yardi software is a plus.
    • Must be comfortable interacting and communicating with individuals at all levels of the organization.
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.
  • Compensation
    $110,000 per year
