    Sr. Cost Accountant – Manufacturing

    Bellingham

    We are a growing, manufacturing firm committed to operational excellence and precision. As we scale, we’re seeking a Senior Cost Accountant to help build out our cost accounting function, enhance GAAP compliance (specifically ASC 606), and serve as a key link between finance and operations.

    The Senior Cost Accountant will be responsible for developing and maintaining a GAAP-compliant cost structure, implementing ASC 606 practices, and delivering actionable cost analysis to support strategic decisions. This newly created role will work closely with the Controller, operations leadership, and external consultants to build financial systems from the ground up.

    Sr. Cost Accountant Responsibilities:

    • Implement and support GAAP-compliant cost accounting practices, including ASC 606
    • Analyze and interpret cost data, generating project-based reporting to support journal entries and financial statements
    • Maintain and improve cost center controls, standard costing models, and internal reporting tools
    • Partner with a third-party manufacturing CFO consultant to align cost practices with software capabilities and audit requirements
    • Work cross-functionally with operations, production, and supply chain to capture accurate cost data from BOMs, POs, work orders, and inventory movements
    • Leverage Visual, Synaptex, and Excel to extract, manage, and analyze cost and manufacturing data
    • Support month-end close, account reconciliations, and audit readiness
    • Assist in the adoption of ASC 606 by guiding the transition from legacy revenue recognition methods
    • Serve as a financial advisor to operations—providing both support and pushback when necessary to ensure fiscal accountability
    • Help design systems and procedures that can scale with company growth
    • Prepare journal entries related to manufacturing activity and cost allocations
    • Translate complex data into meaningful reports and insights for leadership

    Sr. Cost Accountant Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA preferred. Equivalent work experience will also be considered.5+ years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
    • Strong knowledge of GAAP, with specific experience in ASC 606 compliance
    • Advanced Excel skills; experience with Visual, Synaptex, or similar ERP systems
    • Experience working with BOMs, job costing, and purchase order flows
    • Ability to work independently in a lean team environment
    • Strong analytical, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills
    • Comfortable interacting with non-financial stakeholders and explaining financial impact in clear, practical terms

    Compensation: $110,000 - $130,000
