    Position Summary

    The Sr. Director of Clinical Operations serves as an operational leader responsible for aligning clinical, marketing, and business development functions in support of Adam Bruggeman, MD, PLLC's mission and strategic growth objectives. This role directly manages a cross-functional team spanning marketing and communications, clinical education, business development, and clinic administration, ultimately overseeing a staff of approximately 30 across the spine surgery clinic, preoperative clearance clinic, opioid deprescribing clinic, counseling, and other initiatives.

    The Sr. Director of Clinical Operations partners closely with the Chief Operating Officer to execute organizational priorities, drive operational excellence, and position the entity for expansion into new locations and service lines. This is a high-visibility leadership role that demands both strategic thinking and hands-on execution in a fast-paced, growth-stage clinical and business environment.

    Key Responsibilities

    Leadership & Team Management

    • Provide direct oversight and day-to-day leadership to four direct reports: Director of Marketing and Communications, Marketing Manager, Director of Clinical Education and Business Development, and Office Manager • Manage the Office Manager's oversight of all clinical staff across the various clinics (~30 total staff) • Set clear performance expectations, conduct regular 1:1s, and lead formal performance reviews for direct reports • Foster a high-accountability, patient-centered team culture aligned with the organization's values • Participate in talent acquisition and workforce planning; with demonstrated performance, assume increasing authority over hiring and termination decisions

    Strategic Planning & COO Partnership

    • Serve as a key operational partner to the COO, translating strategic direction into execution-ready plans • Lead and manage special projects and organizational initiatives as directed by the COO • Contribute to multi-year operational planning, new location development, and service line expansion strategy • Identify operational gaps and recommend solutions that improve efficiency, patient experience, and staff performance • Represent operations leadership in cross-functional meetings and with external stakeholders as appropriate

    Financial Oversight

    • Develop and manage departmental budgets across marketing, clinical education, and administrative operations • Review and approve operational expenditures in accordance with established authority thresholds • Monitor financial performance against budget, identify variances, and implement corrective actions • Partner with the COO on resource allocation decisions tied to growth initiatives and new site development

    Clinical Operations & Compliance

    • Ensure consistent, efficient clinic operations across all three clinical programs in coordination with the Office Manager • Oversee development and implementation of clinical workflows, staffing models, and operational policies • Support compliance with applicable healthcare regulations and relevant billing standards • Serve as an operational point of escalation for clinic-level issues that exceed the scope of the Office Manager

    Marketing, Communications & Business Development

    • Provide strategic direction to the Director of Marketing and Communications and Marketing Manager, ensuring alignment with brand standards and growth goals • Facilitate integration between marketing, business development, and clinical operations to support patient volume targets and new service line launches • Monitor and assess the effectiveness of marketing and outreach initiatives; translate data into operational decisions

    Growth & Expansion

    • Lead operational planning for new clinic locations, including staffing models, workflow design, and go-live readiness • Coordinate with relevant departments to ensure infrastructure, personnel, and systems are in place ahead of expansion milestones • Build scalable operational frameworks that can be replicated as the organization grows

    Qualifications

    Required

    • Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business, or a related field • Minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare operations, medical practice management, or a directly related field

    • Demonstrated experience managing cross-functional teams in a clinical or ambulatory care environment • Strong project management skills with a track record of delivering complex initiatives on time • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills; ability to lead with influence at all levels of an organization

    Preferred

    • Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA), Master of Business Administration (MBA), or equivalent graduate degree • Experience in a physician-owned or independent medical practice setting • Familiarity with healthcare regulatory environment including HIPAA, No Surprises Act compliance, and ambulatory care standards • Exposure to multi-site healthcare operations or experience supporting new location launches • Background working with marketing, clinical education, or business development functions in a healthcare context
