Position Summary
The Senior Estimator leads the preparation of complex, high-quality bid proposals for utility construction projects, overseeing estimating processes, mentoring team members, and ensuring accurate, competitive estimates that support regional and organizational goals.
Job Function
- Prepare and manage high-quality bid proposals.
- Coordinate estimating efforts across assigned regions.
- Perform cost challenges and quality reviews.
- Oversee estimating processes and maintain standardized bidding practices.
- Support development of Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and item databases in estimating software.
- Analyze estimate performance versus actual project costs.
- Provide weekly project status updates.
- Train and mentor estimators.
- Support regional teams to achieve departmental goals.
Education and Experience
- Engineering, Business, or Technical degree preferred.
- Typically 4–7 years of related experience.
- Experience estimating electrical transmission/distribution overhead or underground utility projects.
- Progressively responsible experience in the utility or contractor services market.
Qualifications
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to manage shared resources effectively.
- Experience overseeing multimillion-dollar contract bid proposals.
- Team-oriented with the ability to work across functions.
- Remote work capability.
