Senior Estimator – Heavy Highway/DOT (Metro Atlanta, GA)

What You’ll Do
- Lead estimating for mid- to large-scale DOT/highway projects: roads, bridges, earthwork, concrete flatwork, structures, and utilities
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and cost analysis using HCSS HeavyBid, Bluebeam, and scheduling software
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and chief estimator to define full project scope and requirements
- Prepare complete, accurate bid packages, including phased schedules and risk-adjusted cost projections
- Analyze historical data, market trends, and subcontractor/vendor pricing to optimize competitiveness
- Mentor junior estimators and coordinating staff, fostering a collaborative, high-performing team
- Support preconstruction planning with production input and constructability review
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of DOT regulations, industry standards, and best practices
What We’re Looking For
- 7–10+ years estimating experience in heavy highway construction
- Proven experience leading mid- to large-scale DOT project bids
- DOT experience required; GDOT experience preferred
- Hands-on with takeoffs, cost analysis, and comprehensive bid preparation
- Strong command of HCSS HeavyBid, Bluebeam, and project scheduling software
- Knowledge of civil engineering principles, construction methods, and DOT project requirements
- Ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously with precision and accuracy
- Leadership and mentoring experience with junior estimators and support staff
- Detail-oriented, highly organized, and accountable
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent experience preferred
