We are seeking an experienced Excess & Surplus (E&S) Casualty Underwriter to manage and grow an existing $13-14 million Excess book focused in the Midwest region. This role requires a true specialty E&S casualty underwriter with strong wholesale broker relationships and expertise in underwriting.

Key Responsibilities:

• Underwrite and manage an Excess Casualty book comprised approximately 60% construction-related risks and 40% from other industries including manufacturing, distribution, real estate, and mercantile.
• Maintain a strong focus on underwriting discipline and risk selection to ensure profitability and growth.
• Develop and nurture established relationships with wholesale brokers to drive business and retention.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams to develop strategies for client retention and profitable growth.
• Analyze and assess complex casualty risks within the E&S market segment.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as an Excess Casualty Underwriter within the E&S market.
• Established broker relationships, particularly in the wholesale brokerage space.
• Strong knowledge of underwriting principles and risk assessment in construction and other key industries.
• Ability to manage a multi-million dollar book of business while maintaining underwriting discipline.
• Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
