Position Summary
The Mammography Technologist performs high-quality mammographic imaging procedures in accordance with physician orders, regulatory standards, and internal protocols. The technologist plays a key role in the early detection of breast cancer and is responsible for ensuring patient safety, comfort, and privacy throughout the imaging process.
Minimum Qualifications
EducationGraduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology
Graduate of an approved program in Mammography Technology
Current MRT license or temporary license issued by the Texas Medical Board (required)
Registered Radiologic Technologist (ARRT-R)
Registered Mammography Technologist (ARRT-M)
Basic or Advanced Life Support certification (BLS/ALS) required
Minimum of 4 years’ experience as a Mammography Technologist
Demonstrated ability to lift and maneuver patients safely, with assistance as needed
Strong understanding of mammographic positioning, imaging techniques, and radiation safety standards
Experience with patient data systems and digital imaging equipment
Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively within a collaborative team

Principal Accountabilities
Perform diagnostic mammography exams in compliance with departmental protocols and safety procedures
Prepare patients for procedures by explaining the process and ensuring their comfort and dignity
Administer contrast materials when required and ensure accurate patient positioning
Verify and input patient data into the imaging system and maintain accurate records
Ensure technical quality of all images and adjust techniques to accommodate patient conditions
Conduct routine quality assurance testing on mammography equipment
Assist with ACR accreditation applications and compliance documentation
Report accidents, complaints, or equipment issues to management promptly
Participate in the on-call schedule as assigned for emergency radiology needs
Promote a safe, clean, and efficient work environment aligned with budgetary and time management goals
Maintain compliance with continuing education and competency assessments
Mentor, support, and serve as a preceptor to new or less experienced technologists
Perform other duties as assigned by the department leadership
