Sr Manager, Software Engineering (Autonomous Digital Experience Management - ADEM)

Your Career
Palo Alto Networks’ ADEM (Autonomous Digital Experience Management) team is looking for a Senior Manager of Software Engineering to lead the development of scalable, cloud-native services that power digital experience monitoring and analysis. You will manage a team of backend engineers building distributed systems and data processing pipelines running on Kubernetes in GCP. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong technical judgment, people management skills, and a deep understanding of cloud infrastructure and service architecture.
Your Impact
Lead a team of engineers building high-scale backend services, deployed in Kubernetes and leveraging GCP’s data and compute infrastructure
Own project delivery across the full software lifecycle—from design and development to deployment, monitoring, and support
Drive technical strategy and architecture for core ADEM services, including data ingestion, processing, and analytics
Partner with Product Management, Architecture, and SRE teams to ensure performance, reliability, and security at scale
Encourage engineering best practices in CI/CD, observability, and infrastructure automation
Grow and mentor a high-impact engineering team through coaching, feedback, and career development
Promote a culture of innovation, inclusion, and continuous improvement within the team
Identify process and architectural improvements to scale engineering effectiveness and system performance
Qualifications
Your Experience
8+ years of experience in backend or platform engineering, with at least 3+ years in engineering leadership roles
Proven success managing cloud-native applications on GCP (or AWS/Azure), especially with GKE/Kubernetes
Strong experience with distributed systems, microservices architecture, and REST/gRPC APIs
Proficiency in programming languages such as Go, Python, or Java
Deep knowledge of GCP services: Compute Engine, Kubernetes Engine, BigQuery, Pub/Sub, Cloud Functions, IAM, and VPC networking
Experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, Pulumi) and CI/CD practices
Familiarity with telemetry and observability stacks (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry)
Solid grasp of networking, security, and scaling strategies for cloud-based services
Experience with large-scale data systems and analytics pipelines is a plus
Strong people leadership and team-building skills; ability to grow talent and drive delivery
Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field

Compensation Disclosure
The compensation offered for this position will depend on qualifications, experience, and work location. For candidates who receive an offer at the posted level, the starting base salary (for non-sales roles) or base salary + commission target (for sales/commissioned roles) is expected to be between $185,000 - $270,000/YR.
