Senior Project Manager – Cloud (AWS)

A client in downtown Houston is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager – Cloud (AWS) to lead initiatives supporting a large-scale cloud transformation. This role requires candidates to already reside in the Houston area and work onsite.

The Senior Project Manager will work closely with the Big Data department to implement AWS and related cloud technologies while coordinating with parallel workstreams as the company builds a cloud-based data ecosystem.

Responsibilities

• Lead projects focused on migrating on-premise data workloads to cloud-based environments

• Coordinate cross-functional teams supporting cloud transformation initiatives

• Manage project timelines, deliverables, and stakeholder communication

• Ensure alignment between cloud initiatives and operational, compliance, and financial objectives

• Oversee project execution using Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, and DevOps methodologies

• Support the development of cloud migration and implementation roadmaps

• Collaborate with engineering teams implementing AWS data platforms and analytics pipelines

• Identify and mitigate project risks, including security and governance considerations

Required Skills & Experience

Cloud Technology

• Demonstrated experience leading migration of on-premise data workloads to cloud environments

• Strong familiarity with AWS cloud platforms

• Understanding of cloud data architecture, DevOps, FinOps, and MLOps

Data & Analytics

• Experience with managed databases and SaaS data platforms (e.g., Snowflake)

• Knowledge of data replication, streaming, and analytics pipelines

• Experience working with structured, unstructured, and time-series data

• Understanding of self-service analytics models

Project Execution & Methodologies

• Experience with Waterfall, Agile, Scrum, and DevOps project methodologies

• Proven ability to manage cloud migration and implementation programs

• Awareness of cloud security practices and risk mitigation strategies

Preferred Certifications

• PMP (Project Management Professional)

• Certified ScrumMaster (CSM)

• AWS Certifications
