The Sr. Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring timely reporting of financial data including balance sheets, income statements, cost analysis, and intercompany reconciliations. This role supports audits, tax filings, budgeting, and ERP system improvements while collaborating across departments to support business goals.
**This is an in person role in Salinas, CA
Key Responsibilities:
General Accounting & Reporting
- Prepare and maintain monthly financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and P&L reports
- Maintain accuracy and integrity of the general ledger, journal entries, and capital expenditures
- Support month-end and year-end close processes
Cost Accounting & Analysis
- Analyze operational costs, set and monitor standard costs for manufactured goods
- Conduct cost-volume-profit (CVP) analysis and track direct vs. indirect costs
- Prepare variance reports (YOY, LY, trends, budget vs. actual)
- Recommend process improvements to reduce costs and improve profitability
Reconciliations & Compliance
- Perform bank and account reconciliations (payroll, AR, AP, inventory, cash disbursements)
- Ensure compliance with US GAAP and internal accounting policies
- Assist with audits by preparing required documentation and responding to inquiries
- File tax forms with federal, state, and local agencies
ERP Systems & Collaboration
- Support and optimize accounting software (e.g., 365Cannabis ERP, METRC, NABIS)
- Work with department leaders to support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
- Provide accounting guidance to department heads and executives
- Collaborate with AP/AR teams to ensure proper coding and payment processing
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 3–5 years of accounting experience or equivalent education/experience
- Strong understanding of US GAAP and cost accounting principles
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and ERP/accounting systems
- Experience with cannabis industry tools like 365Cannabis ERP, METRC, and NABIS is a plus
- Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills

Compensation: $90,000-100,000 base salary plus full benefits!
