Position Title: Senior Staff Accountant

Salary: $65,000 – $70,000 annually + Bonus

Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Staff Accountant with exceptional communication and leadership abilities to oversee core accounting operations within a fast-paced, high-volume environment. This individual will play a critical role in managing day-to-day accounting functions, supervising team members, and ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance, and controls.
Gaming experience is preferred but not required; however, candidates must be eligible and willing to obtain a Nevada Gaming Card prior to employment.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounting Operations & Financial Management
Oversee daily accounting functions including general ledger maintenance, journal entries, reconciliations, and internal controls.
Manage cash flow tracking, cage operations, high-volume check processing, and electronic deposits.
Review, verify, and process accounts payable and ensure timely disbursements.
Prepare and analyze financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
Maintain fixed asset schedules and assist with depreciation tracking.
Support internal and external audits and ensure GAAP compliance.
Leadership & Oversight
Supervise a team of 2–3 accounting staff, ensuring efficiency and accuracy in daily tasks.
Provide mentorship, training, and performance feedback to team members.
Approve bi-weekly payroll submissions and reports (payroll is processed by HR).
Coordinate with HR, operations, and other departments for interdepartmental communication and reporting.
Compliance & Regulatory
Ensure compliance with local, state, and gaming regulatory requirements.
Maintain internal controls and confidentiality protocols for handling sensitive financial data.
Work cross-functionally with cage operations to reconcile and safeguard cash assets.
Analytical & Strategic Support
Conduct ongoing financial and marketing analysis to support operational decisions and promotions.
Identify opportunities for process improvement and assist with the implementation of automation or system upgrades.
Support forecasting and budgeting efforts.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA preferred, not required).
3+ years of progressive accounting experience; gaming, hospitality, or high-volume transaction experience is a plus.
Proficiency in QuickBooks is required; strong Excel skills highly preferred.
Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.
Prior supervisory experience or proven leadership within an accounting team.
Must be eligible to obtain a Nevada Gaming Card prior to employment.
High level of integrity, attention to detail, and a strong sense of urgency.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to collaborate across departments.
Work Environment & Schedule:
Full-time, onsite position in a secure and regulated environment.
Occasional weekend or evening work may be required during audits or month-end close.
