Position Title: Senior Staff Accountant

Salary: $65,000 – $70,000 annually + Bonus

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Staff Accountant with exceptional communication and leadership abilities to oversee core accounting operations within a fast-paced, high-volume environment. This individual will play a critical role in managing day-to-day accounting functions, supervising team members, and ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance, and controls.

Gaming experience is preferred but not required; however, candidates must be eligible and willing to obtain a Nevada Gaming Card prior to employment.

Key Responsibilities:

Accounting Operations & Financial Management

• Oversee daily accounting functions including general ledger maintenance, journal entries, reconciliations, and internal controls.

• Manage cash flow tracking, cage operations, high-volume check processing, and electronic deposits.

• Review, verify, and process accounts payable and ensure timely disbursements.

• Prepare and analyze financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.

• Maintain fixed asset schedules and assist with depreciation tracking.

• Support internal and external audits and ensure GAAP compliance.

Leadership & Oversight

• Supervise a team of 2–3 accounting staff, ensuring efficiency and accuracy in daily tasks.

• Provide mentorship, training, and performance feedback to team members.

• Approve bi-weekly payroll submissions and reports (payroll is processed by HR).

• Coordinate with HR, operations, and other departments for interdepartmental communication and reporting.

Compliance & Regulatory

• Ensure compliance with local, state, and gaming regulatory requirements.

• Maintain internal controls and confidentiality protocols for handling sensitive financial data.

• Work cross-functionally with cage operations to reconcile and safeguard cash assets.

Analytical & Strategic Support

• Conduct ongoing financial and marketing analysis to support operational decisions and promotions.

• Identify opportunities for process improvement and assist with the implementation of automation or system upgrades.

• Support forecasting and budgeting efforts.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA preferred, not required).

• 3+ years of progressive accounting experience; gaming, hospitality, or high-volume transaction experience is a plus.

• Proficiency in QuickBooks is required; strong Excel skills highly preferred.

• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.

• Prior supervisory experience or proven leadership within an accounting team.

• Must be eligible to obtain a Nevada Gaming Card prior to employment.

• High level of integrity, attention to detail, and a strong sense of urgency.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to collaborate across departments.

Work Environment & Schedule:

• Full-time, onsite position in a secure and regulated environment.

• Occasional weekend or evening work may be required during audits or month-end close.
