Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the preparation and review of federal, state, and local income tax returns and other tax filings (e.g., sales & use, payroll) for various entities (e.g., corporations, partnerships, LLCs).
Prepare and review workpapers, supporting schedules, and documentation for tax returns and tax projections.
Consulting with business clients to provide strategic guidance and improve accounting operations.
Support business owners and their in-house accounting teams.
Lead client accounting services (CAS) engagements.
Perform reconciliations of tax-related general ledger accounts (e.g., income tax payable, deferred tax liabilities).
Assist with research on tax laws, regulations, and compliance issues as needed.
Respond to inquiries from taxing authorities and assist with tax audits and notices under the guidance of senior tax personnel.
Assist with special tax projects, such as tax planning initiatives, process improvements, and system implementations related to tax.
Collaborate with other members of the accounting/finance team and external advisors as necessary.
Stay current on changes in tax laws and accounting pronouncements relevant to our clients.
Qualifications:
BA or BS in Accounting or a related field; CPA or EA certification is preferred.
At least 5 years of accounting experience with progressive experience in tax preparation and consulting across the broad spectrum of income tax rules and strategies related to the needs of individuals and business owners.
Have experience with technical tax return review.
Have experience in a client-facing role.
Proficiency with Thomson Reuters tax preparation software (preferred), Microsoft Office Suite and QuickBooks.
