    SIMULATION TECHNICIAN

     

    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Part-Time, up to 24 hours per week, typically scheduled in 4-hour blocks (8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. or 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.)

    CLASSIFICATION: Career Plan, Contracted

    HOURLY RATE: $16.00 PER HOUR

    FLSA STATUS: Hourly/Non-Exempt

    JOB SUMMARY: The Simulation Technician will work collaboratively with the Simulation Operational Specialist and faculty to support simulation education for the health sciences programs through the operation of high fidelity/low fidelity simulation scenarios.  Programs supported by this position will include nursing, respiratory therapy, radiologic technology, EMT/Paramedic, and medical assisting.

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Lead operations of the computer-controlled simulators, while also handling the vocal aspects of the scenario.
    • Provide technical support, trouble-shooting, equipment repairs, and preventative maintenance for the manikins and simulation software as needed.
    • Prepare simulation environments with extreme attention to detail during set up and take down of each activity.
    • Coordinate and manage the ordering, maintenance, organization, and re-supply of consumable simulation center equipment; conduct equipment inventories.
    • Implement simulation experiences that promote student development of problem solving, critical thinking, decision-making, clinical competency and life-long learning.
    • Responsible for overall simulation center environment to ensure rooms are clean, safe and organized.
    • Participate in tours and simulation sessions for internal/external groups and/or individuals.
    • Remain in-character while portraying realistic patient scenarios.
    • Maintain high standards of confidentiality in all aspects of job.
    • Arrange for repair/replacement of broken equipment as requested.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

     

    SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Under the general supervision of the Dean of Health Sciences.

     

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Associates degree and/or medical certification required.
    • High-level of knowledge working with computers and different software programs required.
    • One year of experience in a heath care related field preferred.
    • Simulation experience preferred.

  • Qualifications

     

    • Must be a careful, patient, non-aggressive driver with an excellent driving record
    • Must be able to pass a DOT physical and drug test, and back screen per DOT regulations as required
    • Clean driving record and insurable by the Company insurance carrier
    • Felony records will be reviewed closely
    • Must be able to drive evenings and weekends as needed
    • Ability to be on time for all assignments
    • Keen awareness to details, which includes accurate driver logs, road hazards, other drivers and surroundings
    • Exceptional customer service and ability to act in a courteous and professional manner at all times, regardless of the circumstances
    • Ability to maintain a professional appearance
    • Proficient with reading maps and GPS, searching for locations and/or directions on-line when necessary, and correctly following directions
    • Computer literate and able to learn and efficiently use different software programs to include electronic logs, and automatic on board recording devices
    • Speak, read and write English fluently
    • Excellent communication skills
