    SCHOOL FOR THE ARTS– INSTRUCTORS FOR CLASSES & PRIVATE LESSONS

     


     

    POSITION TYPE:  Part-time, Contingent. Position is contracted for a specified limited term contingent upon scope and satisfactory performance. Person employed in such capacity shall be subject to review and shall have no claim to continued employment beyond the specific term established for that position. No benefits beyond those required by law.

     

    FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt, Hourly

     

    HOURS: Primarily Monday to Friday, 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm with flexibility to provide weekend coverage as required. Typically 20 hours per week, hours may be reduced as needed.

     

    HOURLY RATE: $25 per hour for class instruction; $53 per hour for private lessons

    JOB SUMMARY: St. Clair County Community College is accepting resumes for part-time instructors for School for the Arts in the music and theatre disciplines. Positions are available for class instruction as well as private instruction.

     

     

    Disciplines in the SC4 School for the Arts include:

    • Music
      • Organ, percussion, piano, string instruments, voice and wind instruments
    • Theater
      • Acting, lighting, sound, tech

     

    SUPERVISION RECEIVED: This position reports to the Director of Community & Alumni Relations.

     

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Associate's degree in related discipline is required, bachelor's preferred. Teaching experience preferred. Ability to develop courses and recruit students.

     

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    MUSIC: Expertise in the discipline including theory and chosen instrument. Computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel, and knowledge of music software. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills required.

             

    THEATRE: Expertise in the discipline including theatre history, acting and tech. Computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills required.
