    SPECIFIC JOB TITLE: Associate Director of Partnerships and Short-Term Programs    

    REPORTS TO: Interim Assistant Provost for Global Programs  

    CAMPUS: Queens  

      

    JOB SUMMARY:   

    As a Catholic, Vincentian, metropolitan, global, and anti-racist institution, St. John’s University is dedicated to ensuring that all students have access to global academic experiences independent of means or interest in travel.  In the Office of International Education, we are committed to ending practices, structures and systems that act as barriers to participation for students across multiple, often intersecting identities. To this end, the Associate Director of Partnerships and Short-Term Programs will develop and implement a strategic plan to engage international and domestic partners that represent a variety of locations, institution types and disciplines.  In addition, this position will help to ensure the availability of programs that increase access beyond traditional mobility programs. This position reports to the Interim Assistant Provost for Global Programs.   

      

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  

    PARTNERSHIP DEVELOPMENT   

    • With the Interim Assistant Provost, develop and implement strategic plan for partnership development and cultivation. 
    • Seek ways to deepen relationships with existing partners. 
    • Seek opportunities for new university partnerships domestically and abroad, based on institutional priorities, and in consultation with Enrollment Management and academic units.  
    • Represent the interests of St. John’s University domestically and abroad by meeting with current and potential university partners and other potential partners.  
    • With the Director of Global Fiscal Affairs, develop pricing with benchmarking analysis and prepare and track partner proposals, contracts, invoices, and payments  
    • Assist in evaluating proposals from faculty for exchange agreements.  
    • Assist with the arrangement of delegation visits from potential international university, government and other potential partners.  
    •  Work with Director of Global Fiscal Affairs, to prepare deposit and final payment invoices and maintain payment tracking of program partners and bed client partners.  
    • Work with Director of Global Fiscal Affairs, Coordinator of Partner Student Services, and Assistant Director of Short-Term Programs to create partner proposals and contracts.

      

    PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT  

    • Collaborate with the Assistant Director of Short-Term programs on the development of new short-term programs in NYC and abroad in response to interest from both internal and external groups, and in consideration of Enrollment Management priorities, international trends, policies, and natural disasters that may affect enrollment.  
    • Seek out and coordinate response to Requests for Proposal for grant-funded programs within the area of international education.  
    • Supervise the creation and maintenance of marketing materials including web copy, posters, and brochures.    
    • Oversee annual benchmarking of program costs of other Universities and third-party providers of Rome and Paris semester programs.    
    • Oversee benchmarking comparison of student life processes of other program providers and professional organizations annually to ensure that SJU follows or exceeds best practices.  
    • Maintain exchange program brochures in TerraDotta and exchange program pages on university website.

      

    INTERNATIONALIZATION AT HOME  

    • With the Senior Director for Global Engagement and the Associate Director for Global Engagement, seek partners for virtual exchange opportunities.  
    • Develop partnerships with community organizations etc. to facilitate faculty-directed engagement with the local community.

      

     DIVERSITY, EQUITY AND INCLUSION  

    • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure that student and faculty inclusion and belonging across identities are central to program development, pre-departure orientations and on-site programming (e.g., by developing resources, participating in University-level DEI initiatives).   
    • Seek partnerships that broaden the reach of SJU programs and provide opportunities for global engagement in areas traditionally not represented by SJU’s study abroad options.

    • Position is part of a 24/7 emergency on-call rotation

    WORK ENVIRONMENT    

    This position operates in a professional office environment; This position is required to use standard office equipment such as personal computers, printers, etc.    

        

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS    

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; move about; sit; to carry work and use controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; communicate verbally and in writing.    

        

    ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS    

    The work environment may have occasional noise as it requires the employee to sit in an open plan office. Additionally, the office is in a student building where classes and activities take place regularly, which means there is often significant noise from students and faculty/administrators in hallways and nearby classrooms.     

        

    POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK    

    This is a full-time position with expected days being from Monday through Thursday, 8:30-4:30 and Friday 8:30-3:00. This position may require some weekend work. Additionally, this position may require some workdays to extend past standard working hours to accommodate partners in different time zones, etc.  

        

    TRAVEL     

    Travel to domestic and international partners will be required.     

      

    REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:   

    • Master’s degree in International Education or related field  

    • Minimum of 3 years’ work experience in international education

     

      

    PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:  

    • Experience working with international students and partners   
    • Experience with academic program development   
    • Experience developing and managing budgets   
    • Experience with marketing  
    • Experience with grant-writing  
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Banner, TerraDotta  
    • Experience with SEVIS  
    • Bilingual

    _In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual salary range for this position is $70,000 - $81,000.  St. John’s University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.  _ 

     

    This position may be relocated to any of St. John’s University’s physical locations at any time.
