    PURPOSE OF POSITION

     

    This position will be responsible for managing warehouse operations, in order to achieve operational levels and service goals.  In this role, will also ensure customer expectations for product quality and service reliability are exceeded, and will be held accountable for achieving overall operating results consistent with individual and company performance goals. This position will also be responsible for the banana ripening process. In this role, will also determine product disposition and perform quality and color checks.

                                

    ACCOUNTABILITIES

     

    • Assess daily and weekly output, identify trends in productivity, and manage the allocation of people and equipment, to address day-to-day variations in demand and capacity, across assigned warehouses.
    • Oversee training of employees and ensure they are provided ongoing skills development and coaching, to improve job performance.
    • Manage the maintenance and implementation of safe work practices and conditions, to ensure a safe environment for associates and visitors, in accordance with company policies and health and safety regulations.
    • Review and evaluate performance of assigned employees. Address performance gaps, and take corrective action, as needed. 
    • Assess business conditions, evaluate business needs and take action to address short-term opportunities to improve service, reduce costs, and enhance operational results.
    • Oversee scheduling of work teams, and initiate short and long-term plans with supervisors.
    • Oversee cycle counts of product inventories and ensure that all inventory is accurately accounted for, in accordance with company policies and procedures.
    • Identify gaps in effectiveness of work processes and worker performance, contributing to errors in inventory management and product losses (i.e. shrink), taking corrective action as needed.
    • Manage the development of individual and team performance improvement goals, which support the achievement of company objectives.
    • Ripen and maintain Bananas according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
    • Perform quality inspections, sort and grade Bananas upon arrival.
    • Monitor stock and make appropriate arrangements to ensure timely deliveries.
    • Process paperwork and maintain inventory and rotation of product.
    • Ensure inspection logs are maintained daily.
    • Oversee the location’s pest control and sanitation program.
    • Handle the management of, and employee training for, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
    • Effectively communicate with General Manager and team on production issues and changes.

     

     MINIMUM SKILLS REQUIRED

     

    • 4 year College Degree in related field, from an accredited institution, and/or equivalent work experience in a similar position.
    • At least 2 to 3 years prior experience in a similar role.
    • Must be able to work a flexible schedule based on business needs.
    • Proficient knowledge of supply chain strategies and distribution systems.
    • Good interpersonal and communication skills (i.e. oral and written).
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs (i.e. Excel, Word and Outlook, etc.).
