    SPECIFIC JOB TITLE: Assistant Director of Alumni Engagement Communications

    REPORTS TO: Associate Dean for Enrollment and External Relations, Law School

    CAMPUS: Queens

     

    JOB SUMMARY:

    St. John’s University School of Law seeks an Assistant Director of Alumni Engagement Communications to design, implement, and manage a comprehensive and integrated marketing and communications strategy that supports the Law School’s alumni engagement and fundraising goals.

    Reporting to the Law School’s Associate Dean for Enrollment and External Relations and collaborating closely with the Associate Dean for Law School Advancement and St. John’s Law colleagues on the Advancement and MarCom teams, the successful candidate will create and deploy content across digital (email, social, web, video) and print channels to inform and engage 17,000+ alumni worldwide, build a sense of identity, inclusion, belonging, and connection, and inspire philanthropy.

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • In partnership with the Associate Dean for Enrollment and External Relations and the Advancement and MarCom teams, develop and execute a comprehensive, digital-forward strategy for engaging alumni through cross-channel content that solves problems, meets needs, informs and educates, and inspires connection while creating a path for event attendance, Law School Alumni Association membership, volunteerism, and philanthropy.
    • Pursuant to that strategy, create original and compelling content for email campaigns, social media posts, the web, print collateral, and other communications.
    • Lead the execution of communications that focus on alumni programming and events, including: Alumni Association chapter events, activities, and initiatives; volunteer opportunities; class reunions; continuing legal education courses; and student-alumni engagement programs.
    • Update and manage the John’s Law Alumni Association’s web and social media presence.
    • Attend alumni events to get to know our alumni and generate content.
    • Using analytics tools, track the performance of digital content, report on that performance at regular intervals, and use data insights to personalize and segment alumni engagement programs.
    • Perform additional duties as Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice.

     

    COMPETENCIES

    • Bachelor’s degree and at least three (3) years of relevant experience creating and managing data-driven marketing communications, employing digital marketing tools, managing data, and using analytics to optimize alumni or constituent engagement
    • Computer fluency, including the Microsoft Office Suite and the Adobe Creative Suite, and the ability to learn and utilize CRM platforms, reporting tools, and other technology/systems
    • Strong writing ability and excellent oral and interpersonal communication skills
    • Demonstrated attention to detail and talent to handle multiple and varied tasks independently, while also working collaboratively to meet project deadlines in a timely manner in a complex, fast-paced, and team-oriented environment
    • Desire and ability to make an impact as a member of our diverse John’s Law community, an appreciation of the Law School’s commitment to being an antiracist institution, and the ability and desire to effectively support and communicate that commitment

      

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

    This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

     

    WORK ENVIRONMENT

    This position operates in a professional office environment; This position is required to use standard office equipment such as personal computers, printers, etc.

     

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand for extended periods of time at Alumni events.; move about; sit; to carry work and use controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; communicate. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 10 lbs.

     

    POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

    This is a full-time position.

      

    TRAVEL

    Occasional travel to local Alumni events

    _In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the hire-on salary range for this position is $70,000 - $75,000.  St. John’s University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.  _ 

      

    This position may be relocated to any of St. John’s University’s physical locations at any time.
