    POSITION SUMMARY:  As part of the Comprehensive School Support (CSS) Strategy, the Executive Director for School Improvement will work under the guidance of the Executive Superintendent in providing support and leadership to staff working on school and continuous improvement to ensure that schools and districts meet State accountability requirements in order to close the achievement gap. Within the Borough/Citywide Office, the Executive Director for School Improvement will work to dramatically accelerate school improvement and transformation in alignment with CSS and bring coherence to the organizational efforts to improve outcomes for all students. Leveraging Improvement Science, the Executive Director for School Improvement will focus on taking a proactive approach in developing strategies around planning, implementing, and refining research-based school improvement strategies. Performs related work.

    KEY RELATIONSHIPS: The Office of the First Deputy Chancellor, all Central Offices, Executive Superintendent, Executive Director, Superintendents and their teams, Directors of Continuous Improvement, Director of Academic Response Team, NYSED

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES

     

    • Supports the Executive Superintendent in overseeing and supporting the implementation of the Comprehensive School Support strategy.
    • Oversees the monitoring of CSS initiatives, including ART and EduStat rollout, to ensure fidelity and identify best practices at the B/CO.
    • Oversees the development of systems and structures to accelerate continuous improvement through strategic inquiry processes.
    • Leads research and design efforts of CSS, codifying practices, documenting progress, and disseminating strategy across school districts.
    • Develops and analyzes actionable metrics that support monitoring, needs analysis, and continued development of CSS.
    • Creates coherence and opportunities for aligning school and district educational planning processes aligned to CSS and evident in school Comprehensive Educational Plans (CEP).
    • Collaborates with the State and Citywide offices around implementing and understanding ESSA.
    • Ensures effective tracking and monitoring of ESSA and develops strategies to ensure that schools meet identified benchmarks.
    • Provides professional development and support to Community Superintendents, High School Superintendents, Borough/Citywide Office Executive Director, and Director of Academic Response to effectively implement school improvement strategies.
    • Develops instructional priorities that are aligned to borough and citywide goals across the Bronx’s Superintendents’ offices to build a unified and consistent vision for effective instruction and school improvement.
    • Advises leadership, providing recommendations on how to increase system-wide capacity to support special populations; participates in team, office, and cross-divisional leadership meetings, providing key input for decision-making.
    • Cultivates strong, productive working relationships with the leadership of partner offices to ensure effective, cohesive, and consistent policy development and communications.

     

    QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

     

    MINIMUM

     

    Must currently possess or will possess by date of hire, New York State certification as a school district administrator (SDA) or school district leader (SDL).  PLEASE NOTE: WE DO NOT ACCEPT INTERNSHIP CERTIFICATES.

    • A valid New York State certificate in one of the following: Special Education, ELL, Math (K-12), ELA (K-12), Guidance/Student Support Services.
    • Experience with data-based decision-making and strategic planning around intervention efforts.
    • Exceptional systems and strategic thinking skills.
    • Ability to synthesize information from multiple sources and develop short-term output-oriented action plans.

    SALARY: $129,014+

  • Qualifications
    • Bachelor degree in discipline related to functional work or role with at least 5 years of relevant work experience in sales 
    • Knowledge of RR Donnelley Products & Services preferred
    • Ability to present to C-Level and Senior Management Executives, excellent written & verbal communication skills required.
    • Clear knowledge of the selling cycle with the ability to make cold calls on a daily basis.
