    Job Summary

    The Fortifi LA Program Manager, under the supervision of the Division Director manages the Fortifi program team ensuring the delivery of quality technical vocational training as well as adhering to the mission of St. Joseph Center._ _

    The Fortifi LA Program Manager is passionate about empowering people and wishes to contribute in a meaningful way with vocational or technological experience.  The PM supports a dynamic, multi-faceted and team dedicated to changing the trajectories of low income, underemployed, re-entry and underserved adults through tech skills and job placement in the technology sector.

    Fortifi LA’s mission is to use a technical skillset to transform the income potential and the lives of low income and underserved adults, especially those impacted by economic hardship and are justice experienced. Fortifi LA works with adults with justice experience, and those impacted by homelessness and chronic low income. Fortifi LA is an innovative program that teaches the technical and professional skills necessary to attain entry level technology related jobs.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    Under the supervision of the Division Director, the Fortifi LA Program Manager coordinates all aspects of the Fortifi LA Program including supervision of the instructors & program staff, and is responsible for student recruitment, supporting where possible with curriculum evaluation & development, job search strategy instruction, employment coordination, job and hiring coordination and placement, community outreach, documentation and reporting.  

    To implement these objectives, the Program Manager will:

    •  Assist the Division Director in evaluating and selecting appropriate students for the training.  Provide students with orientation to program expectations, and coordinate interviews and selection process. Oversee student recruitment, outreach efforts and strategies, including partnering with outside recourse to identify eligible candidates.
    • Provide class time support to instructors and staff, as well as providing support to students. Supervise case manager with preemptive case management for all students. Provide support to case manager with linking and leveraging resources within and external to the agency.
    • Support and assist Instructors with teaching job search skills; provide job search assistance to students; assist in development of student resumes and job search assets. 
    • Coordinate and implement professional skill development and other skill building curriculum.
    • Coordinate students and graduate job opportunities, internships and employment opportunities. Record successes and track progress.
    • Maintain current program records, student case files and outcome data.  Provide reports to director, funders and Center administration. Track graduate success and record data on outcomes and successes. Maintain a current database of graduate placements and job opportunities.
    • Networking with local job developers and attending job fairs.
    • Develop along with Fortifi LA staff objectives, lesson plans and course materials for job search strategy curriculum. Develop and maintain program and curriculum documentation.
    • Coordinate class schedule and calendar, coordinate field trips, guest speakers, and networking events. Maintain program calendar of all program activities, including guest speakers, field trips off site, and internal and external events.
    • Coordinate updates and revisions to the program website, and online social media assets, especially LinkedIn.
    • Conduct and oversee weekly career workshops for students, as well as sessions for graduations.
    • Support graduate employment retention, through workshops and maintain regular contact with graduates as they navigate their new roles, and for the first year of their employment.
    • Conduct student and graduate surveys to track their progress and performance, and to obtain feedback on program content efficacy, and student/graduate interactions with program.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

    • Professional Technology field experience preferred.
    • Must have experience in program and/or project management.
    • Management experience in an academic environment is a plus.
    • Must have excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, be proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), Google Suite, Drive, Docs, Sheets.
    • Familiarity with project management software.
    • Flexible, able to prioritize & work well under pressure. Self-management of schedule.
    • Must be professional and capable of maintaining relationships with companies and organizations for networking & student employment opportunities
    • ·Able to work autonomously but must also enjoy working collaboratively with others.
    • · Ability to communicate effectively with instructors, external agencies, and management staff.
    •  Attentive to detail, capable of meeting deadlines and maintaining complete and accurate reports, calendars, and appointment schedules. Independent work ethic.
    • Experience with preparing and maintaining budget reports.
    • Position may occasionally require a flextime schedule to cover evening or weekend events.
    • Ability and sensitivity to work with very low income, vulnerable and at risk individuals.
    • Problem solving, resourceful mentality absolutely essential.

    EXPERIENCE:

    • Minimum two to three years of web development or IT experience, preferably in a digital or engineering department.
    • Must have proven competencies with HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery & GitHub Content Management Systems [WordPress], UX Design, UI, IA [Sketch & ability to construct wireframes] Agile/SCRUM Project Management Methodology, QA, Windows, Unix & MacOS

      

    EDUCATION:

    • Degree from accredited college or university OR professional Web Development or IT experience.

    DIRECT REPORTS:

    • Fortifi LA Instructors & Staff & Case Manager.

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS:

    • Valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.
    • Valid automobile liability insurance.

    TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Occasional regional travel. Travel between SJC sites. Travel to companies, partners and events.
