    Job Description

    JOB SUMMARY

    The Resident Services Coordinator works as a team member with several social service professional and paraprofessional staff ensuring the delivery of quality care in accordance to the rules and regulations established, as well as adhering to the mission of St. Joseph Center. 

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    The Resident Services Coordinator’s key areas of responsibility include: 

    KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

    • Provide effective customer service to all current residents and property staff.
    • Provide high quality coordination services to residents.  Serve as the central point of contact for residents as they navigate the transition into the community.    
    • Assess the needs of residents and recommend specific service plans, provide referrals and linkages as needed.
    • Meet with residents and provide case management services upon request.
    • Planning and implementation of resident activities and promoting a quality living experience for all residents.
    • Build community and trust among residents.
    • Provide administrative support to ODR Scattered Site program including but not limited to: scheduling appointments, developing and implementing tracking mechanisms for client support funds, due dates for progress report, quarterly and annual paperwork, etc.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

    • Develop professional relationships with residents and maintain a caseload of up to 25 residents, conducting regular face-to-face sessions as needed.
    • Assist with the preparation of forms and any other documentation required for housing subsidy, including annual recertification thereafter.
    • Conduct initial home visits upon a new resident lease-up and ongoing quarterly home visits, or more often as determined by need.
    • Conduct ongoing sessions to housed individuals/families to monitor their needs and progress and to provide appropriate community referrals.  This includes referrals to any needed services including health, mental health, education, and vocational training, serving as an advocate or liaison to other organizations on behalf of the client when needed. 
    • Develop programming and coordinate workshops relevant to resident needs including development of independent living skills, housing retention, and wellness including money management and budgeting, housekeeping, nutrition and food preparation, social/recreational activities, mental health, social well-being, technology, and community building.
    • Provide social, educational, and recreational programs through collaborations with volunteers, local non-profits, or community resources.
    • Utilize a harm reduction, client focused and strengths-based model.
    • Coordinates all resident functions and activities including orienting residents to the property, as well as assists with utility set-up and deliverance of packages and package claim reminders.
    • Develops and publishes property newsletter, which includes planned events, resident services, and advertisements.
    • Handle issues, including neighbor disputes, assist with maintenance request follow up, and resident requests.
    • Inspect buildings and grounds to ensure safety and cleanliness, and alerts maintenance to items that need to be repaired.
    • Conduct annual resident satisfaction surveys to ensure quality of service and relevant services based on needs and requests
    • Serve as resident advocate while teaching residents to advocate for themselves
    • Provide regular documentation and tracking of all program activities and ensure progress notes are completed and added to each resident file within 24 hours of completing a direct session with resident.   
    • Maintain resident files in compliance with regulatory requirements and ensure appropriate forms are updated as required. 
    • Prepare reports of services, concerns, and outcomes as requested.
    • Respond to urgent requests for assistance from residents or landlords. 
    • Develop close working relationships with all collaborating agencies and property management to facilitate open and on-going communication regarding resident activities, meetings, special events, resident questions and concerns.
    • Participate in all meetings with collaborative agencies, and other community meetings as directed.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

    • Must be highly motivated and a self-starter.  The ability to communicate with and relate to a diverse group of people including residents, community, and other staff.  Must have excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills and the capability to work in a fast paced environment.   
    • Strong knowledge of housing market, housing programs and resources.  Demonstrated knowledge and experience with Harm Reduction, Motivational Interviewing, Critical Time Intervention, and Housing First.
    • The position requires an ability to work flexible hours including some early morning, evenings. A bilingual/bicultural background is a plus.

    EXPERIENCE:

    • One to two years’ experience providing services to highly vulnerable populations.

    EDUCATION:

    • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in social work, human services or a related field; a combination of education and experience may be substituted.

    DIRECT REPORTS:

    This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities. 

    COMPUTER SKILLS:

    • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
    • Ability to use widely supported internet browsers.

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS:

    • Valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.
    • Valid automobile liability insurance.

    TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Travel to client session, meetings at multiple St. Joseph Center sites, and at community partners’ locations as needed.

    Status: Full-Time/Non-Exempt
