    Job Summary

    The Career Coach works within the Education & Vocational Services Division reporting to the FortifiLA Program Manager with oversight of the Division Director supporting the St. Joseph Center Education & Vocational FortifiLA program in providing current, high quality and effective career coaching and employment services.

    The Career Coach works closely with FortifiLA staff to support program operation and employment outcomes.

    The career coach is able to pinpoint the best aspects of a clients professional experience and market it in the most effective way possible to potential employers,  is well versed in crafting resumes, career planning, motivation techniques and network building.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    Key Areas of Responsibility:

    • Assist with development and implementation of Professional Development Curriculum for FortifiLA.
    • Assist Division Director and Program Manager with administrative tasks, including digital asset creation (digital documentation, virtual job boards, email newsletter content) as assigned.
    • Support student and participant employment preparation and employment skill development.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

    • Administration, and program coordination for Career Coaching within FortifiLA program.
    • Creation of dashboard for data visualization of employment outcomes, and program performance. Assist staff with refinement of process for recording and tracking key performance indicators, and outcomes, creating and editing outcome documentation.
    • Help develop, coordinate and implement a Professional Development curriculum as part of the Career Coaching suite of services. Curriculum covers job preparedness and job search skills, professional and soft skills, resume clinics and interview workshops and mock interviews.
    • Help develop and maintain curriculum modules, curate resources, create visual presentations and artifacts for employment development, and the vocational program.
    • Maintain and occasionally create web pages, content or digital artifacts to support employment programs. Create resume templates suitable for target employment sectors.  Curate job descriptions and repository of skills and tool sets necessary for key target employment roles. 
    • Assisting with coordination and logistics for participant support – arranging interview logistics, referrals for services, procurement of resources to support employment.
    • Provide support to FortifiLA participants, coordination and preparing students for employment opportunities.
    • Participate in program team meetings, providing support for employment outcomes.
    • Support and supervise job preparation, and career planning workshops. Curating and incorporating resources to support participants.
    • Works with program staff to support employment outcomes for technological vocational and job training program. Development of digital job board, maintaining an up-to-date list of suitable employment opportunities for program participants. Working with employment specialists and program staff to curate repository of resources to support employment preparedness. 
    • Provides one-on-one assistance to students to explore suitable job openings. Assists with creating and updating resumes, cover letters. Assist with LinkedIn, digital artifact preparation.
    • Creation of presentations, dashboards, and data visualization for track performance and outcomes.

     

    Other duties and responsibilities can be assigned as fits supporting administration, coordination and outcomes of programs and services in the Education & Vocational Services Pillar.     KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

    • Ideal candidate is highly organized, efficient, communicative, responsive to critical feedback and willing to work with agility and resourcefulness.
    • Ideal candidate can be relied on to produce excellent quality work.
    • The ideal candidate has good understanding of technology employment.
    • Proficient with Content Management Systems and knowledgeable of WordPress development.
    • Excellent communication skills and ability to problem solve effectively.
    • Fluent in Google tools, Gmail, sheets, docs & slides.
    • Exceptional ability to explain and review concepts. Ability to support understanding and practical application of concepts.
    • Ability to provide feedback to staff, including documentation on student academic progress. Ability to recommend course corrections and actions based on findings

    EXPERIENCE:

    • Experience and knowledge of job markets, including and not limited to the technology job market, technology roles and current market trends, and key skilled employment markets.
    • Experience working in team environment. Teaching experience is a benefit.
    • Experience in recruiting and/or human resources is a plus.

    COMPUTER SKILLS:

    • Proficiency in Microsoft OS & Programs (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint), Google Suite & Mac OS
    • Proficiency with Adobe tools, the Tableau Suite, Wordpress and basic HTML.

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS:

    • Valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.
    • Valid automobile liability insurance.

    TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: Occasional regional travel may be required. Travel between SJC office locations may be required. Ability to drive, with valid driver’s license preferred.
