Job Description
St. Luke’s School seeks an inspiring and collaborative historian and educator who is eager to apply their strengths to leading our Middle School History program.
At this moment, History teachers stand at a critical juncture in educating young people to understand and navigate the political, economic and social contexts in which we all live. We seek a colleague who understands their classroom role as mentor and coach to be every bit as crucial as content expert; who enthusiastically advocates for critical reading, reflection, and research as the tools of responsible students and citizens; and who embraces opportunities for challenging but age-appropriate conversations about individual, national, and cultural identities in and out of the classroom.
As Department Chair you will lead the professional growth and development of your faculty and the ongoing design and delivery of a forward-looking history curriculum. A successful candidate will join a team of passionate and enthusiastic teachers who bring history to life for students, love teaching and learning, and relish being a joyful presence in the lives of young people.
