    Position Summary

    Helfer and Company, LLC is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join our growing accounting firm. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for supporting clients with tax preparation, reconciliations, financial reporting, and general accounting functions. This role requires strong analytical skills, accuracy, professionalism, and the ability to manage multiple client projects in a fast-paced, fluctuating environment.

    Key Responsibilities

    Prepare and maintain accurate financial records for multiple clients

    Perform various reconciliations of payroll, income allocations, equity, and more

    Assist with preparation of financial statements and supporting schedules

    Prepare journal entries and general ledger adjustments

    Support payroll tax filings

    Prepare individual, corporate, partnership, fiduciary, non-profit and gift tax returns

    Ensure compliance with accounting principles, tax regulations, and firm procedures

    Communicate with clients regarding financial information and document requests

    Identify process improvements and help streamline accounting procedures

    Maintain confidentiality of client financial information

    Qualifications

    Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

    3–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in public accounting or an accounting firm environment

    Knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles

    Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, CCH Axcess, CCH Engagement, or similar platforms

    Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite

    Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

    Excellent communication and client service skills

    Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities

    CPA license or CPA candidate preferred but not required

    Preferred Skills

    Tax preparation experience

    Experience working with small business clients

    Familiarity with compliance filings

    Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

    Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team

    This position may be performed in-office, remotely, or in a hybrid setting depending on firm needs. Occasional overtime may be required during tax season and peak reporting periods.
