Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced Staff Accountant to provide temporary support to our finance team during our busy audit season. This is an excellent opportunity to work with a mission-driven organization while gaining valuable experience in property accounting and consolidated audit preparation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive property financial reviews across multiple housing properties
- Prepare detailed reconciliations and allocations to multiple entities within our portfolio
- Assist with consolidated audit preparation and support external audit requests
- Develop and maintain complex financial schedules and reports
- Perform month-end and year-end closing activities for property portfolios
- Analyze financial data and identify discrepancies or areas requiring attention
- Support general accounting functions as needed during peak audit period
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 2+ years of accounting experience with at least one of the following: property accounting, audit, or non-profit accounting
- Advanced Excel skills including complex formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis
- Experience with financial reconciliations and multi-entity allocations
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
- Available to start immediately upon approval
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with MRI and/or Yardi property management software
- Advanced Excel skills including INDEX/MATCH functions and complex modeling
- Previous experience with affordable housing, tax credit properties, or HUD compliance
- Public accounting or external audit experience
- Familiarity with non-profit accounting standards and reporting requirements
$35-$37/hour.
30-40 hours a week- November 2025.
2 days at the office and 3 at home.
