    Job Summary

    Carabell Leslie & Company LLC, a full-service public accounting firm with over 60 years of trusted service in the Detroit Metro area, is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join our growing team.

    This role offers hands-on exposure to tax, financial reporting, and client advisory services in a collaborative, growth-focused environment. The ideal candidate is technically strong, client-oriented, and eager to develop professionally within a firm that values modernization, efficiency, and long-term relationships.

    Key Responsibilities

    Prepare financial statements, tax returns (individual and business), and supporting workpapers

    Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes

    Perform general ledger, bank, and account reconciliations

    Support compilation and review engagements by preparing required documentation

    Assist with tax planning and compliance activities

    Work directly with clients to maintain accurate financial records and provide advisory support

    Maintain and update accounting systems, including QuickBooks Online and Desktop

    Utilize UltraTax and Accounting CS for tax preparation and reporting

    Stay current with GAAP, tax law changes, and regulatory requirements

    Contribute to firm process improvements, workflow efficiencies, and modernization initiatives

    Qualifications & Skills

    Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

    1–3 years of accounting experience (public accounting experience preferred)

    Proficiency in UltraTax, Accounting CS, QuickBooks (Online and Desktop), and Microsoft Excel

    Working knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards

    Experience with tax preparation strongly preferred

    Strong analytical and organizational skills

    Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment

    Excellent written and verbal communication skills

    CPA or CPA candidate preferred
