    We're looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join the Hunt Forest Products accounting team, supporting operations across Hunt Forest Products, LaSalle Lumber Company, and Bienville Lumber Company.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    • Monitor, correct, and update the LIMS (Log Inventory Management System) for accurate tract/source data, vendor info, volume adjustments, and rate errors; review reports to ensure data integrity
    • Manage log and residual processing through LIMS to G/L, A/P, and A/R; handle weekly settlements, month-end closings, and reconcile log inventory, timber, and costs
    • Update inventory spreadsheets and summary reports, input G/L entries, analyze fiber costs, pay severance taxes, and support Forestry with summarized findings
    • Reconcile G/L to bank statements on a weekly & monthly basis for all entities
    • Monitor sales/use tax accruals for accurate reporting and payments
    • Provide analysis of utilities, supply, and expense costs for Operations
    • Assist with annual financial audit and income tax data requests
    • Assist with annual budgets, quarterly forecasting and
    • Assist with weekly financial statements

    Skills

    • Requires high degree of initiative, judgement, discretion, and decision-making to achieve objectives
    • Must be able to identify, analyze, and resolve accounting and financial problems
    • Ability to analyze financial results from operations
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel
    • Highly professional, ability to maintain confidentiality of information

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in a business-related field
    • Strong attention to detail and data accuracy
    • Proficient in Microsoft 365/Office Products and general financial software tools
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
    • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays if needed
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
    • Self-starter with a collaborative mindset
    • This position requires residency within a commutable distance to Ruston, LA., this position is not remote.

    Preferred

    • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
    • Prior experience with Power BI or other data warehouse dashboard tools
    • 1-3 years of experience in a finance or accounting role
    • Prior experience in Wood products or other manufacturing
