STAFF ACCOUNTANT (FT) - Seeking experienced accountant to join leading condominium and homeowner association management company in northern NJ. DEFINITION - The Staff Accountant is a capable, effective and multi-skilled professional whose responsibility is preparing monthly accrual based financial statements for the properties they are assigned. The accountant interfaces with the managers, auditors and clients regarding questions or specific analysis of accounts when needed. This professional must be able to prioritize within their jurisdiction, duties and tasks
DIRECTION AND REPORTING - The Staff Accountant reports to the Senior Accountant and Controller
GENERAL AREAS OF RESPONSIBILIITY - Preparing monthly accrual based financials; Prepare Sponsor billing in accordance with the documents and communicate with the developer; Reviews coding of all invoices to the proper general ledger account category
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
· Must be able to effectively communicate with the auditors, clients and
managers
· Possess the ability to multi-task
· Possess a bachelors degree in business administration or accounting
· Versed in Word & Excel and be willing to be trained in other accounting software as needed
JURISDICTION, DUTIES AND TASKS
· Preparing monthly accrual based financial statements
· Reviewing expenses as compared to the contracts
· Analysis of insurance claims
· Analysis of other worksheets needed to back up financials
· Prepare Sponsor billing in accordance with the documents
· Maintain monthly proofs of membership fees and new closing costs
· Execute reserve and deferred maintenance computations for properties
under construction
· Oversee the work product of the bookkeeping specialist
· Posting of contracts for the properties to a control workbook
· Supervising sub-metering
· Review bank statement reconciliations
· Reconciliation of the A/R and A/P subsidiary ledgers to the General ledger
· Reclassification of expenses based on the particular association’s budget.
· Preparing prepaid insurance schedules
· Accrual of all expenses
