Insero Talent Solutions is recruiting a Staff Accountant for an agriculture manufacturing company in Rochester, NY.

The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the accounting department by preparing and maintaining financial records to ensure accuracy and compliance with established accounting standards and procedures. This role involves general ledger management, account reconciliations, financial reporting, and assisting with month-end and year-end close processes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare journal entries and maintain general ledger accounts.
• Perform monthly bank and account reconciliations.
• Assist in the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes.
• Support the preparation of financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
• Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.
• Assist with audits by providing documentation and explanations as needed.
• Reconcile intercompany accounts and resolve discrepancies.
• Prepare and file sales/use tax and other regulatory filings.
• Assist in budgeting and forecasting processes.
• Perform accounts payable function
• Maintain organized and accurate financial records and documentation.
• Perform ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as requested.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Experience: 1–3 years of accounting experience preferred (public or corporate).
• Certifications: CPA or working toward CPA designation a plus.

Skills and Competencies:

• Solid understanding of accounting principles (GAAP).
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage, or similar).
• Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, formulas).
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
