KMJ's client is seeking an experienced Staff Accountant with a strong background in construction accounting, multi-state and multi-union payroll, and job costing.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage multi-state, multi-union payroll and ensure compliance with state/federal payroll tax laws
• Process daily A/R deposits and A/P job cost transactions for multiple projects
• Prepare month-end and year-end journal entries (inventory, accruals, depreciation, reclassifications)
• Reconcile cash, bank, and general ledger accounts
• Maintain accurate job cost tracking for construction projects
• Assist with union, insurance, and financial audits
• Prepare and file monthly, quarterly, and annual state and federal compliance reports
• Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies
• Support the Controller with special projects and process improvements

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• Experience:
• Minimum 2 years in accounting, with construction accounting experience preferred
• Proven track record with multi-state, multi-union payroll and job costing
• Experience in a project-based environment
• Skills:
• Proficiency with accounting software (Sage 300 CRE or similar preferred)
• Strong Excel skills
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to meet strict deadlines while working independently
