Job Title: Staff Accountant

Salary Range: $50,000 – $60,000 annually
Position Overview
We are seeking a Staff Accountant to support the financial operations of a growing, multi-state organization. This role works directly alongside the CFO and plays a key part in day-to-day accounting, reporting, compliance, and project costing.

Key Responsibilities
Core Accounting FunctionsProcess accounts payable including vendor invoices and payments
Manage accounts receivable invoicing, collections, and reconciliations
Prepare and post journal entries
Assist with general ledger maintenance and month-end close
Reconcile accounts and support financial accuracy
Maintain and track Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules
Apply cost accounting principles to job costing and project tracking
Monitor cost vs. revenue and assist with cost allocation
Support operational budgeting and project profitability tracking
Prepare sales tax data across multiple states (approximately 8 states)
Coordinate with external CPA for tax filings and compliance
Maintain documentation for audit and tax review
Generate financial and operational reports
Perform data analysis using Excel
Assist with implementation and adaptation to new accounting systems
Communicate with vendors and clients regarding W-9s, ACH forms, and COIs
Make outbound calls to resolve documentation issues
Provide direct support to the CFO to improve processes and workflow
Qualifications
Required
3–4 years of accounting experience (AP/AR and GL exposure)
Experience or exposure to cost or project accounting
Strong Excel skills (formulas, reporting, and analysis)
High attention to detail and strong organization skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Professional communication with vendors, clients, and internal teams
Preferred
Multi-state accounting experience
Sales tax preparation or coordination experience
Experience preparing documentation for external CPA review
