    Position Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support the accounting and financial operations of a growing mortgage company. This role focuses heavily on data entry, transaction processing, and reconciliation of loan-related financial activity. The ideal candidate is highly organized, accurate, and comfortable working with accounting systems, loan software, and financial reports.

    This position plays an important role in ensuring the accuracy of loan accounting records, commission payments, and operational financial reporting.

    Key Responsibilities

    Accounting & Data Entry

    Perform high-volume data entry of financial transactions into the accounting system.

    Record loan funding transactions, lender payments, borrower fees, and operational expenses.

    Maintain accurate records for loan closings, commissions, and operational costs.

    Assist with journal entries, account coding, and general ledger updates.

    Reconciliations

    Reconcile bank accounts, escrow accounts, and warehouse line activity.

    Review loan funding reports and reconcile to accounting records.

    Identify and resolve discrepancies in financial records.

    Loan Accounting Support

    Enter and verify loan funding data and lender payments.

    Track loan fees, broker compensation, and lender credits.

    Maintain accurate records related to loan pipelines, closings, and commissions.

    Reporting & Documentation

    Assist with preparation of monthly financial reports and reconciliations.

    Maintain organized digital records for accounting documentation.

    Support accounting team with audit preparation and regulatory reporting when needed.

    Administrative Accounting Support

    Process invoices, expense reports, and vendor payments.

    Maintain internal financial spreadsheets and reporting tools.

    Collaborate with operations and processing teams to ensure financial accuracy.

    Qualifications

    Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business preferred

    3-5 years of accounting, bookkeeping, or financial data entry experience.

    Experience in mortgage, lending, or financial services industry preferred

    Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks Desktop, or similar systems.

    Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

    Ability to manage large volumes of financial data with accuracy.

    Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy

    Strong organizational and time management skills

    Ability to work independently and meet deadlines

    Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

    Preferred Experience

    Experience with mortgage loan accounting

    Knowledge of loan funding, commissions, and lender payments

    Familiarity with LOS systems such as MeridianLink Mortgage, Encompass or similar platforms
