JOB OVERVIEW
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Staff Accountant to join our team in the dynamic third-party logistics (3PL) industry. This role involves managing day-to-day accounting functions, preparing financial reports, and supporting the financial health of the organization. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles and logistics operations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
· Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, including journal entries, general ledger reconciliations, and month-end close processes.
· Ensure timely and accurate accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) processing, including invoicing, payment tracking, and collections.
· Reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, and other financial accounts.
· Monitor and report on cash flow, ensuring sufficient liquidity for operational needs.
· Assist in preparing financial statements, management reports, and budgets.
· Analyze financial performance, identifying trends, variances, and areas for improvement.
· Support audits by preparing necessary documentation and responding to inquiries.
· Reconcile freight and transportation expenses, including fuel surcharges, accessorial fees, and carrier payments.
· Analyze revenue and costs associated with 3PL operations to ensure profitability.
· Collaborate with operations teams to track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as margin analysis and shipment volume trends.
· Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal controls.
· Identify and implement process improvements to streamline accounting workflows.
· Stay updated on industry regulations and their financial implications.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
· CPA or progress toward certification is a plus.
· 2-4 years of experience in accounting, preferably in a logistics, transportation, or 3PL environment.
· Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite) and Microsoft Excel.
· Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial analysis techniques.
· Excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
