Staff Accountant

Silver Construction Supply – North Hollywood, CA

Position Overview:

We’re looking for a highly organized and detail-oriented Staff Accountant with a strong foundation in accounting principles and experience working in distribution or other inventory-based brick-and-mortar businesses. The ideal candidate will be familiar with Epicor Prophet 21 and be prepared to manage end-to-end accounting processes while helping to implement structure and efficiency in our financial operations. We are looking for someone who can take ownership of core financial functions and grow into an Accounting Manager role as our team scales.

• Ability to grow into a leadership role and oversee a dedicated accounting team in the near future

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts
• Process daily accounting entries, journal adjustments, and month-end close
• Manage AP and AR functions (until those positions are filled)
• Support internal financial reporting and cash flow monitoring
• Track inventory values, COGS, and vendor billing in coordination with purchasing and operations
• Help develop and enforce internal accounting policies and controls
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and identifying process improvements
• Prepare management reports and provide financial insights to leadership

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 5+ years of accounting experience, ideally in distribution, wholesale, or inventory-based environments
• Proficiency with Epicor Prophet 21 or similar ERP platforms is strongly preferred
• Solid understanding of accrual accounting and GAAP
• Excellent Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, reconciliations, etc.)
• Strong analytical skills and a proactive, ownership-driven mindset

Preferred Experience:

• Working with ERP-integrated inventory and billing systems
• Supporting operational and financial leadership through reporting and insights
• Familiarity with vendor terms, freight cost allocations, and margin tracking
