Job Summary:
Under the direction of the General Accounting Manager, the Staff Accountant manages a fully automated accounts payable function, processes several payrolls, and invoices customers for shipped orders. The Staff Accountant performs periodic balance sheet reconciliations.
Main Duties/Responsibilities:
•\tDemonstrate and instill the Company’s core values in all job activities.
•\tEnsure a safe working environment is always maintained and take responsibility to report and ensure resolution of any observed safety hazards.
•\tIn collaboration with other support functions, strive to do things right the first time.
•\tAdminister all processes related to A/P functions within the Finance department.
•\tPrepare and process weekly & bi-weekly payroll for all employees.
•\tEnsure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
•\tHandle payroll-related inquiries and resolve issues.
•\tMonitor and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
•\tMonitor A/P approval workflow to ensure only approved invoices are set up to pay.
•\tMaintain vendor payment type records & monitor 3rd party payments to vendors.
•\tAdminister select A/R & Treasury activities daily, including but not limited to invoicing customers & balancing cash receipts periodically.
•\tMonitor accounts receivable aging and follow up on overdue accounts.
•\tReconcile A/P, Payroll & A/R batch totals & transactions uploaded from source systems & support documents.
•\tAssist with department digital transformation efforts.
•\tWork with team members within the Finance department, and cross-functional departments.
•\tPerform year-end closing procedures; prepare info for the annual financial statement audit.
Qualifications:
Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge is qualifying. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:
Education/ Experience
•\tBachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required
•\tMinimum of 3 years of experience in accounting required, A/P, payroll, and A/R preferred
•\tCPA certification or progress towards certification a plus
Skills
•\tAbility to handle confidential information in a sensitive manner
•\tAttention to detail and ability to read and comprehend supplier documents/customer purchase order terms and conditions
•\tExcellent organization and time management skills
•\tAccurate data entry and typing skills
•\tGood judgment and decision-making abilities
•\tExcellent oral and written communication skills (technical writing skill preferred)
•\tProficient analytical & problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a diverse teamwork setting
Knowledge
•\tStrong knowledge of accounting principles and practices, centered on US-GAAP
•\tProficiency in manufacturing accounting software (experience with an ERP system preferred)
•\tAdvanced Excel skills - experience with SQL &/or Power Query a plus
•\tExperience with an AP automation software or robotic process automation (RPA) platform
•\tProficiency in using payroll processing systems
